Integrative medicine seeks to understand the individual as a ‘whole person’ treating mind, body, spirit and applies many forms of evidence-based natural therapy to improve wellness.
Her 30-year professional career and innovation has made her a worldwide authority in the field of chronic pain and mental health recovery. She is highly acknowledged by her peers as an industry expert and spoke numerous times on BBC Radio Scotland championing alternative health solutions. She has also written several health articles for the national press. For 25 years she was a professional Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapist, running two prestigious back pain clinics in Harley Street London and Bradford West Yorkshire helping people resolve their back pain naturally through her breakthrough treatment ‘LT Therapy.’
An early understanding about health & wellbeing……
Sophia became passionate in the management and prevention of mental and physical pain from an early age. Seeing both her parents struggle with depression, her mother especially suffered debilitating chronic lower back pain (CLBP) due to a 25-year nursing career. It was thanks to her mother, Maria Langellotti, the first recipient of Sophia’s therapy, who after several of her specialised holistic treatments made a full recovery from CLBP. Maria inspired her daughter to offer the remarkable treatment she founded to other back pain sufferers.
Sophia’s first clinic in Bradford was opened in 1999, followed in 2010 by her second clinic in Harley Street London. She named her treatment the ‘Langelotti Tri Therapy’ which became known as ‘LT Therapy’ in thanks and recognition for her mother’s continual support and encouragement.
Personal journey – becoming a visionary……
Sophia herself suffered life changing injuries after a head on collision with a drink driver on Christmas Eve 1986 where due to a damaged sciatic nerve, she lost the ability to walk. When three months of medical intervention failed, Sophia focused on following a more holistic path to regain her ability to walk again. Her strong will and determination to succeed rewarded her with restoring her mobility in full.
Her incredible recovery and inquisitive mind prompted further exploration about how her healing was possible using mindset and behaviour changes. She invested the next 30 years on a journey of ongoing research and training to evolve her methodology. Through case studies and data collected from her clinics, she developed her unique copyright protected process called the ‘Mind-Body Connection Map’ (MBCM) which underpins the foundational framework of her successful ‘ERASE Pain programme’ (EPP).
New beginnings……
From March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK national lockdowns forced her face to face clinics into five closures. This gave Sophia the opportunity to transfer her work online to support people who were struggling with their chronic pain and mental health unable to access GP appointments. The people who chose to work with Sophia online were seeking someone who had a credible and trusted brand and could offer them an alternate solution to self-manage and treat their mental health conditions as well as chronic pain successfully
Her online work became so successful that in February 2022 she became Director of Mind Body Health Training (MBH Training Limited), delivering one to one health and wellbeing solution programmes to meet public and Primary Care demand under personalised healthcare. In Autumn 2022, the digital version of EPP was launched.
Recognition through Awards…..
In March 2021, Sophia’s work was recognised by Dr Cheryl Chapman International speaker mentor and fellow peers who awarded her the ‘WHYs Woman Impact in the World Award 2020’ for her break-through innovation EPP. Sophia’s programme helped support people through the pandemic to become more independent, empowered, resilient and engaged in the self-management of their own health and wellbeing.
In September 2022 at The Janey Loves Health & Wellbeing Platinum Awards Sophia became a double platinum award winner for her innovation EPP and winning a Platinum Award for her book, ‘The Muscle Whisperer -The Keys to Unlocking Your back Pain.’
Professional Associations and Partnerships……
Sophia is an associate member of the Royal Society of Medicine and sits on the Health & Research Ethics Committee for Yorkshire & Humber Bradford Leeds England. She is a member of the Complementary Natural & Healthcare Council (CNHC) the recognised government body for UK registered health practitioners and member of The National Counselling Society (NCS).
In 2016, whilst studying for her MSc in Advanced Complementary Medicine Research and Practice, Sophia used the Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile (MYMOP) to collect data on patient progress. After six years of gaining outstanding results from MYMOP which helped demonstrate how rapidly patients were improving using her innovation, she successfully partnered in 2022 with Dr Helen Seers and Dr Marie Polley, the new owners of MYMOP at Meaningful Measures to champion the health problem specific and wellbeing tool to allow therapists to create a more evidence-based practice.
In 2022, after extensively working alongside Mr Vasu Karri, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Sophia joined The Karri Clinic and The Kinvara Private Hospital in East Yorkshire to support the improvement of patient health outcomes pre-post surgery using a ‘whole person’ approach for accelerated recovery.
Research Study……
Sophia graduated from the University of Middlesex and Northern College of Acupuncture in November 2021 with an MSc in Advanced Complementary Medicine Research and Practice. Her research study focused on ‘What do Complementary therapists understand about self-care and the importance of self-care.’
The findings highlighted notable discoveries which align with other research papers on the importance of therapist self-care. Self-care not only maintains a therapist’s own mental and physical wellbeing, helping to reduce burnout related to chronic stress, it helps to improve client outcomes which meets the requirements of the National Occupational Standards (NOS), British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling Society (NCS).
The practice of daily self-care is an integral part of health and wellbeing for everyone not just therapists. When people become disconnected to the self, due to stress and complex societal challenges, practicing daily self-care allows the person to become ‘whole’ again.
Sophia’s study highlighted the value and importance of reconnecting a person back to the ‘whole’ self, mind, body, spirit was essential to living a pain free and balanced quality of life.
Supporting Healthcare Professionals……
In October 2021, to help retain medical professionals working in the NHS and private sector, Sophia launched her new programme ‘Remediation for Healthcare and Medical Professionals’ to support mental health, wellbeing and behaviour change. The programme is tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual with the aim of safe reinstatement back into medical practice. As a result of working with medical individuals, Sophia recognised the lack of independent emotional wellbeing support healthcare professionals had access to within their framework which led to malpractice allowing her to develop a more bespoke solution.
Continued learning……
In March 2022, Sophia was selected to join the Northern Max Accelerator programme partnered by Bradford Council and AD:VENTURE, the business support programme for new businesses in North and West Yorkshire funded by the European RegionalDevelopment Fund (ERDF). The programme helped to move her brand
forward onto a digital platform, as well as develop a wider presence collaborating with B2B clients.
In May 2022, she started her ‘Online Counselling and Supervision Training’ (OCST) Diploma offering medical professionals and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapists’ online supervision to support their mental health and wellbeing.
Her mission is to help people understand how their emotional stress manifests and impacts their mental and physical wellbeing. Her ‘ERASE Pain Programme (EPP)’ inspires people to excel in their own self- healing. MBH training offers evidence-based wellness solutions that empower health changes through education and understanding.
“My ambition is to enable society to take control of their own health and wellbeing, using an evidence-based approach to restore wellness. Delivering my programmes as an interactive educational learning tool, that serves and supports a community of all ages, ethnicities and diversity to thrive and grow.”
